Creative Writing Workshop
Art writing fundamentals: Focussing on Bio, Artist Statement, and Artwork Statement
About the workshop:
Why do you need an artist statement?
A well written and a strong artist statement helps you create an effective marketing approach by sharing your unique story, ideas, and your creative process. A quality piece of artwork will always pique the interest of viewers on its own. However, providing an artist’s statement for your work grounds the piece in the context you provide.
If you are submitting your work to a museum or gallery show, for a grant or other opportunity, a written artist’s statement will be required. In short, an artist statement can be about a single work of art, a body of work, or about you as an artist and why or how you make your artistic decisions.
In this workshop, we will work on getting the essence of your artwork, your ambition, and your vision and turn them into well-written essays. You will be guided through the process of creating a personal Bio and artist statement that can be used for graduate school applications, Art calls, grant proposals, as well as the marketing and promotion of your artistic work.
Whether you’re an established or emerging artist, a designer, photographer, visual artist, or a writer, this workshop is for you. Workshop enrollment will be no bigger than 4 students per workshop to maximize individualized attention and the potential for peer-to-peer dialogue.
How can the workshop help?

Articulating your art and giving it the consideration, it deserves
